FAQ

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The earlier you order, the better.  Once you order, your seedlings or tranplants are reserved for you.  For instance, if you order 100 blue spruce seedlings in February for a July wedding, you no longer have to worry about that…they are reserved and will arrive on the day you requested.

There is a box on the last check out page of the shopping cart to put in the exact day you wish to have your order delivered.  We hit the exact day 99% of the time.

HOW LONG WILL THE SEEDLINGS I ORDER BE FRESH AND ALIVE?

We moisten every seedling before it packed for your order.  They are generally placed in a 1 mil clear bag which helps them retain moisture for at least two weeks even in the heat of summer.  When you choose the “bare plug” option, we package the seedlings inlayers lined with wet newspaper inside a large plastic bag…please choose this option if you don’t need them individually wrapped for giving. When your seedlings arrive they should be kept in a cool place and exposed to some light and they will be fine and healthy for your event or until ready to plant.  PLANTING AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED WITH EVERY ORDER.

WHAT IS THE BEST SEEDLING FOR MY AREA?

That’s a hard question to answer.  The farther north you live, the less you have to worry about which one will survive and thrive where you live.  Pay attention to the growing zones and look up your own zone.  Blue spruce, Meyer spruce, Austrian pine, Southwestern white pine, white pine and white cedar are best for zones 7 and 8 in general.  Arizona cypress seedlings do well in hardiness zones 6 through 9.  If you live in a higher elevation area in zones 7 or 8, then Canaan fir might be good choice.  If you live in zones 4 to 6 , any of the seedlings will do fine. (except Arizona cypress)

The evergreens we grow need to go dormant in winter as part of their life cycle.  They need a period of several weeks where the temperature gets below freezing or very cold in winter to maintain their proper life cycle.  They might survive for a couple years in a climate without winter, but eventually will die.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ORDER?

For us, it’s for you to order on line with our shopping cart.  That way there are no transcription mistakes from phone talk and there is less paperwork, plus you get an exact shipping quote, but most importantly, there is less chance of your credit card information being compromised because we never see it.  IF YOU ARE LOCAL, PLEASE CALL TO ORDER AND ARRANGE A PICK UP DAY.

You can send us a check or money order, but we must receive it before we will ship your seedlings or tree.

That said, if you want to order something special, something done in a special way, or an odd or exact number, please call us with your order.  It always helps if you create an account on line even if you call with your order.

There are options for credit cards (MC, Visa, Discover and AMEX) and for sending us a check using our shopping cart.
