Ponderosa pines are native to the southwestern United States.  Given enough time they can grow to incredible heights nearing 200 feet. they have 4 to 8 inch long needles.  They can live for 400-500 years!

They are also known as yellow pine or western yellow pine.

Ponderosa pines have a long, deep root that enables them to access deep moisture, but they grow in a variety of soils from extremely dry to well drained, relatively moist soils.  They are suited to low fertility and dry sites.

The seed for the Ponderosa pines we propagate comes from the Lincoln and Santa Fe National Forests in New Mexico.
